【植物形态】
： 多年生草本，高约至30cm。根茎较长，横走，生有多数细长的根，节间短。叶1～2片，叶片肾状心形，长7～14cm，宽6 ～11cm，顶端锐尖至长锐尖，基部深心形，边缘粗糙刺毛，两面疏生短柔毛；叶柄长10～15cm。花单生于叶腋。花被筒质厚，筒部扁球球，顶端3裂，裂片平展；雄蕊12，花丝长于花药；子房下位，花柱6。蒴果肉质，近球形。花期4～5月。
【生长地】
： 生于山谷、溪边、山坡林下阴湿处。分布于陕西、山东、安徽、浙江、江西、湖北、湖南。
【化学成份】
： 含挥发油，油中主要成分为甲基丁香酚、黄樟油脑、1-细辛素、1-芝麻素（I-sasemin）、优香芹酮、龙脑、1，8-桉油精，a-和β-蒎烯、反式-细辛酮。
【功能主治】
： 同北细辛。
