为山茶科植物皋芦的叶。
【植物形态】
皋芦 常绿灌木，全体与茶相似，惟枝干较粗大。叶长椭圆形，长10～15厘米，宽5～7厘米，锯齿缘。花腋生，白色，比茶花略大；萼片5；花瓣5；雄蕊多数；子房上位；花梗长。蒴果扁圆形。花期秋季。 分布云南、四川等地。

①陶弘景："苦涩。" ②《纲目》："苦，平，无毒。"
【功用主治】
治头痛烦热，喉痛，淋病， ①《本草拾遗》："煮为饮，止渴明目，除烦，不睡，消痰。" ②《海药本草》："通小肠，治淋，止头痛烦热。" ③《纲目》："噙咽清上膈，利咽喉。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，2～3钱。
【宜忌】
《纲目》："胃冷者不可用。"
