| 木通科 Lardizabalaceae 双子叶植物纲木兰亚纲的一科。木质藤本，稀为灌木，叶互生，掌状复叶，少数为羽状复叶，叶柄基部和小叶柄的两端常膨大为节状。花辐射对称，常排成总状花序；萼片6，花瓣状，排成2轮，有时 3，花瓣缺 ，或为蜜腺状；雄蕊 6；雌花中有退化雄芯6或无；子房上位，心皮3，有时6或9，分离，1室，胚珠1至多数。果实肉质，有时开裂。共 40 余种，分布在喜马拉雅区至日本和智利。中国有5属35种6变种。主产秦岭以南各省区。有些种类供观赏用；有的作食用或药用。木通科在进化上是比较原始的植物，它和木兰科、毛莨科有亲缘关系，它们都有辐射对称的花、3基数、分离的心皮。
