| 叶天士（1667～1746） 中国清代医学家。名桂，号香岩。吴县（今江苏苏州）人。出身于世医之家，祖父叶时、父亲叶朝采皆为名医。叶天士自幼学医，曾从其父徒弟朱某学医，很快超过朱某，随后遍访名医，虚心求教，先后曾拜17位名医为师。吸取各家之长，又兼精心研究，临证多有奇效，一时声望显赫。当时南方温病流行猖獗，叶天士经过细致观察和临证实践，创立了一整套温热病的诊断治疗理论和方法。提出温病之邪系由口鼻侵入人体，自上而下，肺先受邪，然后按卫、气、营、血4个阶段传变的理论体系和辨证纲领 ，并制订了一系列治疗方法和方药；还从临证角度提出了温病的辨舌、验齿、观察斑疹、白的方法。叶天士是温病学奠基人之一。一生未及著述 ，所传《温热论》、《临证指南医案》、《叶案存真》、《未刻本叶氏医案》，皆弟子和后人所辑。
