The porous ceramics, of which main crystals is the quartz and mullite, has been developed by using ceramic polished waste as the main raw material in this paper.

In this study,a new lightweight building material for mainly close pore and thermal insulation function was tried to prepare with tile polished waste,high temperature sand,low temperature sand and various clays as raw materials,through ball milling,drying,molding and firing.

Effects of the amount of the waste polished tile and the composition of raw materials on deformation, bulk density, porosity, pore structure and mechanical strength of the lightweight building material were investigated.
