硬脂酸钡是白色或微黄色粉末,溶于苯、甲苯和其他非极性溶剂,熔点210℃。在有机溶剂中加热溶解后冷却时成胶状物,不溶于水,溶于热的乙醇,在空气中能吸收水分,遇强酸分解为硬脂酸和相应的钡盐。硬脂酸钡有毒,无硫化物污染性。储运中应注意防潮。
用途:硬脂酸钡用作机器的耐高温润滑剂,橡胶制品的耐高温粉模剂,聚氯乙烯等塑料的耐光、耐热稳定剂、润滑剂,在所有碱土金属的硬脂酸盐中,硬脂酸钡长期耐热性最佳。
