stearic acid
    一种脂肪酸。分子式CH3(CH216COOH。广泛存在于自然界中。几乎所有的油脂中都含有数量不等的硬脂酸,在动物脂肪中含量较高,如牛油中含量可达24%;植物油中含量较少,茶油为0.8%,棕榈油为6%,但可可脂中的含量则高达34%  。硬脂酸为正构十八碳酸  。白色蜡状固体  。熔点71.2℃ ,沸点232℃(15毫米汞柱),相对密度0.9408(20/4℃)。几乎不溶于水,易溶于乙醚、氯仿和苯等有机溶剂。商品硬脂酸实际上是45%硬脂酸和55%软脂酸的混合物。硬脂酸的钠盐或钾盐是肥皂的组成部分,硬脂酸钠盐的去污能力不及软脂酸钠,但它能增加肥皂的硬度。硬脂酸及其盐类除用作表面活性剂外,还用于雪花膏等日用化妆品、润滑脂、涂料、绝缘材料等中。
