  ﹝出涅槃经﹞
  凡即凡夫,小即小乘。倒即颠倒。谓凡夫著有,妄于无常法中计常,苦中计乐,无我计我,不净计净;及小乘之人,但着于空,常计无常,乐计非乐,我计无我,净计不净。故有凡小八倒之名焉。(小乘,即声闻乘、缘觉乘也。)
  [一、非常计常],非常计常者,谓世间一切有为之事,皆悉无常,虚幻不实,岂能长久。凡夫妄计是常,即成常颠倒。
  [二、非乐计乐],非乐计乐者,谓世间五欲之乐,皆是招苦之因。凡夫不了,妄计为乐,即成乐颠倒。(五欲者,色欲、声欲、香欲、味欲、触欲也。)
  [三、非我计我],非我计我者,谓此身皆因四大假合而成,本无有我。若一大是我,三大应非我;若四大俱是我,应有多我,毕竟是谁为我?故知我即不可得。凡夫不了,于自身中,强生主宰,妄计为我,成我颠倒。(四大者,地大、水大、火大、风大也。)
  [四、不净计净],不净计净者,谓己身、他身,具有五种不净。凡夫不了,妄生贪着,执以为净,即成净颠倒。(已上四计,是凡夫四倒。五种不净者,种子不净、住处不净、自体不净、外相不净、究竟不净也。)
  [五、常计无常],常即法身常住之义,无常即变异之义。谓声闻、缘觉,为无明所覆,于如来常住法身,妄计有生灭变异之相,是名无常颠倒。(无明者,无所明了也。)
  [六、乐计非乐],乐即涅槃清净之乐,非乐即苦也。谓二乘为无明所覆,于如来清净涅槃,妄计是苦,是名非乐颠倒。(梵语涅槃,华言灭度。二乘者,声闻乘、缘觉乘也。)
  [七、我计无我],我即佛性真实之我,无我,即佛性中无有我也。谓二乘为无明所覆,不了无我法中而有真我,故于佛性真我之中,妄计无我,是名无我颠倒。
  [八、净计不净],净即如来常住之身,非杂食身,非烦恼身,非血肉身,非是筋骨缠褁之身。二乘为无明所覆,但观世间一切诸色皆为不净,不了如来常住法身之净,是名不净颠倒。(已上四计,是小乘四倒。)
