The microwave irradiation was employed to treat the catalyst precursor (Ni~ 2+ /SiO_ 2 ) obtained via impregnation, which resulted in the Ni-B/SiO_ 2 amorphous catalyst through chemical reduction by aqueous KBH_ 4 solution.
