【植物形态】
朱砂藤 多年生草质藤本。根肉质，较粗，支根粗细相近。茎绿色，分枝；小枝纤细，被不明显的微毛。单叶对生；具柄；叶片厚纸质；心状卵形或心状圆形或近戟形，长4～10厘米，边缘浅波状，上面绿色，被极稀疏伏柔毛，下面灰白色或淡绿色，近无毛。伞形花序腋生；花萼5深裂，裂片卵状矩圆形，边缘有睫毛；花冠轮状，裂片旋转排列，内面有柔毛；副花冠的鳞片5片，肥厚膨大，肉质，先端分离；花粉块每室1个，下垂。蓇葖果，长角状，平滑。种子褐色，顶端有丝状束毛。花期5～7月。果期8～9月。 生于山坡疏灌丛中。分布四川、云南、贵州、广西、湖南、湖北、江西等地。

秋、冬采根，晒干备用。
【性味】
苦，温有小毒。
【功用主治】
理气，止痛，强筋骨，除风湿，明目。治胃痛，腹痛，腰胀痛，跌打损伤，有强壮之功。
