喜树 Camptotheca acuminata 珙桐科喜树属落叶乔木。又称旱莲、千丈。该属仅此一种,为中国特有树种。主要分布于四川、湖北、湖南、江西、云南、广东、广西、浙江、福建等省(自治区)。木材轻软、脆弱,易开裂反翘,可作造纸、火柴工业用材;种子、根皮中含有喜树碱,是抗癌药物;常用于四旁绿化、用材林、防护林和行道树等的树种。树高20~25米。叶互生,长椭圆状卵形,全缘或微呈波状。花单性,雌雄同株,分别成球形头状花序,雌花序顶生,雄花序腋生。坚果呈翅果状,窄矩圆形,不具梗,两侧不对称,果皮厚革质,具2~3纵棱脊,内含1枚种子(见图)。喜光性中等,幼龄耐庇荫。适生于年平均温度13~17℃、年降水量1000毫米以上的地区。在溪流两岸和谷地中,土壤肥沃、湿润处生长相当迅速,对土壤酸、碱性要求不严,在石灰岩土壤和冲积土上生长良好,但在干燥、瘠薄的石质土上生长不良。育苗都采用种子繁殖 。 子干藏越冬后春播。1年生苗高约80厘米出圃。
