Hypophthalmichthys molitrix;silver loweye carp

   鲤形目鲤科鲢亚科鲢属的唯一种。又名白鲢,边鱼,。体侧扁;眼小,侧下位;口宽,下颌略向上方倾斜;无须;皮质腹棱自胸鳍基间到肛门;胸鳍末端仅伸至腹鳍起点或稍后;体呈银白色,各鳍灰白色。为亚洲东部黑龙江、黄河、长江、珠江到海南省及越南北部的特产鱼,在中国西到关中及四川盆地。生活于水的中上层。天然产量很大。幼鱼以浮游动物为食,成鱼吃浮游植物为主。可人工饲养。是中国四大家养鱼类之一,生长迅速,疾病少,是优良的养殖鱼类。
