Abstract: This article describes three stages in the development of electroslag furnace and its recent development.

The reasons of high copper content in electric furnace slag combined with Guixi Smelter production practice are analysed,the effective ways of reducing the copper content in electric furnace slag are put forward,it is pointed that the key to reduce the copper content lies in maintaining the circumstance of the flash furnace well and restricting the over output of magnetic Fe3O4 in slag.

After the technical improvement,this system reaches the designed capacity and standard,reclaims 5000 t copper from the electric furnace slag,and improves the utilization of copper resource.
