【性状】
本品为淡黄色至黄色的液体，遇冷则成乳白色的结晶性团块；有特臭。 本品能与乙醇、氯仿、乙醚、脂肪油或挥发油任意混溶，在水中几乎不溶。 相对密度 本品的相对密度（附录Ⅵ A）在25℃时为0.910～0.913。 凝点 本品的凝点（附录Ⅵ D）不低于21℃。 折光率 本品的折光率（附录Ⅵ F）在25℃时为1.448～1.450。 碘值 本品的碘值（附录Ⅶ H）为131～140。
【鉴别】
(1)取本品1ml ，滴加高锰酸钾试液1ml ，振摇，高锰酸钾的颜色即消失。 (2)本品的红外光吸收图谱应与对照的图谱的图谱（光谱集17图）一致。
【检查】
水溶性酸 取本品5ml ，加水5ml ，振摇，用湿润的滤纸滤过，滤液中 加甲基橙指示液1 滴，如显红色，加氢氧化钠滴定液(0.1mol/L)0.10ml，应变为黄色。 中性脂肪 取本品1.0ml ，加碳酸钠试液5ml 与水25ml，煮沸，热时溶液应澄清或 显极微的浑浊。 炽灼残渣 不得过0.1 ％（附录Ⅷ N）。
【含量测定】
取本品约0.4g，精密称定，加中性乙醇（对酚酞指示液显中性）10 ml与酚酞指示液3 滴，用氢氧化钠滴定液(0.1mol/L)滴定。每1ml的氢氧化钠滴定液(0.1 mol/L)相当于18.43mg的C11H20O2。
