| 越人 Viets 亚洲中南半岛越南人口占多数的民族。又称越南人、京人、安南人。占越南全国人口的大多数。另外，还有一些分布在柬埔寨、泰国、老挝和其他国家。属蒙古人种南亚类型。使用越语，系属未定。越语中的汉语借词约占其词汇的一半以上。自公元1世纪开始，一直沿用汉文。13世纪出现喃字，系在汉字结构的基础上，按形声、会意、假借等方法构成的方块字。但字数不足，著书、行文仍夹用汉字。19世纪40年代拉丁化拼音文字开始定型，80年代逐步推广。信佛教，大乘佛教自古在越人中影响较大，并在南方派生出和好教和高台教。天主教随殖民者传入后，也有一定影响。不少越人尊崇孔子，建有文庙。越南人街头上的越人妇女主要从事农业，少数从事工业、手工业、林业、渔业和商业。村庄多按不同职业和宗教信仰组成。忌用神灵、尊长的名字取名。对长辈、有地位的人，说话要用敬词。
