墨尔多山,藏族最古老的宗教——黑教的神山,嘉绒藏族文化中心,藏区四大神山之一民族英雄的象征,海拔5105米。据《墨尔多神山志》记载:山上共有一百零八个圣景,千余处景点。站在墨尔多山之巅,东面可望见峨眉金顶,西望可遥视卫藏冈底斯雪山,俯首可览境内8条银色的河流,像8条洁白的哈达,缠绕着墨尔多神山56座美丽的山峦,56座壮丽的山峰象征着祖国56个民族的团结和友好。墨尔多神山地处藏汉结合部,因此,她本身就是藏汉民族和睦相亲的象征和见证。
墨尔多神山风景素以神奇著称。主峰北面,有天然形成的喜马拉雅、冈底斯、阿尼玛卿等藏区8大神山的缩影造型,以及深不可测的遇有惊动就会风起云涌的高山海湖;主峰东面有数十座造型逼真的天然石碉群;西面是神奇的神仙洞和自生塔。
墨尔多神山的神奇,被古往今来的游人墨客所顶礼和传颂。据《墨尔多神山志》记载:墨尔多山上的空行母十分灵验,因此在此修行极易修成正果。正因为此,多少个世纪以来,一直倍受中外宗教信徒的崇拜。西藏以及其他藏区僧侣们将去墨尔多山朝拜视为功德圆满。近几年来,大批来自祖国各地的游方僧人到这里的神仙洞、菩萨岩、修炼洞中参禅修行,其中还不乏国外的旅游观光者、科学考察和体育探险者。
