Anti-trade pact movement continue in Taiwan
2014-04-04  CNTV, April 4, 2014

The opposition to a trade pact with the mainland continues in Taipei, where several hundred students are occupying Taiwans legislative building. They’ve been backed by mass protests in the streets surrounding parliament. At least 100,000 people marched on Sunday. Protesters have also been holding sit-in protest outside the headquarters of the Kuomintang party.

Meanwhile, a labor union has launched campaign to support the trade pact. Protesters demand local authorities to scrap the trade deal. Taiwan signed the deal with the mainland last year to open up dozens of sectors on both sides of the straits.

Protesters say they will not leave unless the legislature passes regulations to supervise any agreement signed with mainland. Taiwan authorities have promised a clause-by-clause review on the pact.
