BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Thousands of supporters of Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, have taken to the streets of Caracas, to commemorate the anniversary of Venezuela’s democracy.
They marched through Caracas in separate groups and planned to gather in a working-class neighborhood of the city... named after the date of the downfall of Venezuelan dictator General Jimenez.
The rally comes amid continued uncertainty about Chavez’s health. It’s now more than six weeks since he underwent cancer surgery in Cuba and he has not appeared or spoken publicly since he left for Havana on December 10th.
Government officials say his health is improving after suffering a severe lung infection, but have provided no specific details regarding his condition.
