BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- The director general of ’s Inter-Services Intelligence, Lieutenant General Muhammad Zahirul Islam has held crucial talks with CIA director General David Petraeus in Washington.
Security officials say their discussions focused on the revival of normal counter-terror cooperation. A security official also said that the ISI chief would push for a halt to U.S. drone strikes in Pakistani tribal regions and seek to acquire drone technology of its own.
Officials said they were also expected to explore ways to boost intelligence sharing on Pakistan-Afghan border regions and to establish a mechanism for regular meetings on border cooperation. They were likely to reach an understanding under which they would pass on information if any side wants to carry out military operations on their side of the Pakistan-Afghan border.
