The first graphic novel adaptation of Liu Cixin's The Three-Body Problem was launched by Yilin Press at the 37th Beijing Book Fair, which kicked off on Thursday.
Created by artist Wu Qingsong and Three-Body Universe, the exclusive global rights holder for content development and commercial derivatives of the Three-Body IP, the adaptation will cover the trilogy in six books that will be published over the next five to six years.
The series will also explore new paths for integrated publishing through cross-domain collaborations in books, cards, and cultural creative products.
The first volume covers the storyline from the moment scientist Ye Wenjie sends a signal into space, to the first encounter between human civilization and the Trisolaran civilization, and ends with the victory of Operation Guzheng, a military operation conducted by the UN to recover messages received from the Trisolarans.
The graphic novel is available in both hardcover and paperback editions. The initial batch of hardcovers is being released as part of a limited-edition custom gift box, which includes the hardcover book, cards, a mouse pad, and an Earth-Trisolaris Organization badge. Additionally, the first collectible card for the Three-Body IP based on the graphic novel was also launched at the event.
The Three-Body trilogy has been translated into 38 languages and has sold over 30 million copies. It has won nine major international science fiction awards, including the Hugo Award.
