Guinness World Records awards the success of giant panda researchers

The China Giant Panda Conservation Research Center has been recognized by the Guinness World Records for its achievement of successfully breeding the world's first panda twins to a captive mother and a wild father, reports Chinanews.com.

The twins, named He He and Mei Mei, were the result of a program initiated by the research center in 2017. After a two year search, the female captive panda Cao Cao successfully mated with a wild panda in the Wolong National Nature Reserve.

At an award ceremony in Beijing on Wednesday, the director of the Guinness World Records Greater China Region called the birth of the twins a remarkable achievement that has made a huge contribution to the breeding of giant pandas.
