An Internet company in the city of Hangzhou has been praised online for providing an employee with a hair transplant treatment as part of its mid-year staff benefits program.

A doctor who specializes in hair transplants was invited to the company to examine the hair of its programmers, who often work long hours and have a stress-inducing workload - two factors that can contribute to early hair loss.

The programmer found to have the highest hairline and the least amount of hair was awarded a hair transplant package worth some 5,000 yuan (around 720 U.S. dollars).

He admitted that he had a lot less hair now than he did several years ago.
