CBA: Fans greet Ducks at Beijing airport
CNTV, April 1, 2014

The Beijing Ducks returned to town as CBA Champions, The team won Game Six in Xinjiang, by defeating the Flying Tigers ninety-eight to eighty-eight on Sunday night, and then received a rousing welcome at the airport, when they touched down earlier on Monday afternoon.

Hundreds of fans anxiously watching the Arrivals Board at BCIA many of whom had been there since the crack of dawn.

Cameras, tee-shirts proclaiming undying support for the team, and banners displaying congratulatory messages could be seen all around the hall and the cheering reached a fever pitch as the CBA Finals MVP, Randolph Morris, led the new champions down the escalator, and every player would be met by happy faces as they alighted. Stephon Marbury there too.

Ducks win Game Six to claim second championship

Xinjiang had forced the CBA Finals back to Urumqi by stunning Beijing in Game Five, meaning they then got a pumped-up home crowd to give them even more inspiration. And one man feeding off all that energy is Lester Hudson, who continues to lead the way for the Tigers.

But it's bad news for the hosts in the opening minutes, as three-point specialist Muhtar Xire-Lijiang is injured... and never returns.

So then it's Marbury going to work outside the arc for the Ducks. The American point guard not letting his lingering knee injury slow him down in this game. And the 37-year-old would drive the Capital Club forward, as they take an eight-point lead as the first quarter comes to a close.

Xinjiang looking tense and tentative as they lose focus on both ends of the floor, which allows Sun Yue to spot up for the trey, extending Beijing's advantage to 17 points early in the second quarter.

But the Flying Tigers cut the gap after half-time, as Hudson's jumper makes it a nine-point game. And the home squad begins to clamp down on defense, fighting hard for every rebound, and the fast-break is converted with a wide open lay-up off the glass from Ma Kan. Deficit down to just five.

Then it's a one-possession game midway through the third Q, but another Sun trifecta gives the visitors some breathing room as they're up by five again.

Reggie Okosa joined Xinjiang one day earlier to replace the injured James Singleton, and he gets the bucket and foul here to put the Tigers ahead by a point.

Beijing soon retakes the lead, but Tang Zhengdong does what he can to keep the Tigers close down the stretch.

And with the Ducks clinging to a lead of one, that's when Morris takes over.

The American forward hits each of the eight shots he takes in the final period to finish with game highs of 30 points and 11 rebounds.

Xinjiang with no defense against that dunk, Beijing's lead grows to eight with less than two minutes to go.

So the Tigers would be unable to catch up in the closing seconds, three of Sun's 18 points helping seal the 98-88 victory for the Ducks who win the series four-games-to-two and claim the second CBA Championship in team history.

Morris is named the 2014 Finals MVP, both he and Marbury finish this season with their second title since coming over to China from the NBA.
