Lying in a remote town of China's southern Guangdong Province, the only rape flower-themed tourist attraction is part of the Mt. Huashui nature reserve inside the Yingde National Forrest Park. As many as 3,000 acres of land are scattered with rape plants, creating a striking scene in Guangdong Province. Before 2005, local residents used to plant rape for cooking oil, and since then the beautiful flowers have developed into a tourist attraction.

While leaving Kunming City by bus, you will see fields and fields of rape flowers along the way, the densest being in Luoping County.
It's like a piece of Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony performed on the stage of Luoping. The widely-spread Stone Forests form the bass line and the large carpet of golden rape flowers are the soprano to the red soil and green fields as the mediant.

The rape flowers seen south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, known as Jiangnan, are as graceful as a watercolor painting, reflecting the typical spring atmosphere in the area. Early spring is still chilly with cold breezes and showers, and the rape flowers are like the ushers bringing the warm spring.

Situated in China's southern Jiangxi Province, Wuyuan enjoys a widespread reputation as "the most charming village in China" for its well-preserved ancient towns and original buildings dating from a long time ago. Walking through the village, rape flowers bloom among the Hui-style cottages. It feels like walking back into the old times, or a Chinese ink painting.

Rape flowers are widely-spread on the mountainside in Guiyang and Anshun in China's southwestern Guizhou Province. A lot of places in this area boast massive rape flowers, especially Kaiyang. Aside from looking at rape flowers, tourists can also visit the surrounding ethnic group villages, and other scenic spots like Mt. Tiantai and Huang Guoshu Waterfall.

In May, golden rape flowers bloom on the Loess Plateau. If you set out from Xi'an and go west toward Mao Tomb or Gan Tomb, both tombs of famous emperors in China's history, you can see waves of rape flowers on each side of the road.

By July, rape flowers in the south of China have been harvested or turned into oil, but those at Qinghai Lake are in full bloom. The azure blue Qinghai Lake is embedded in millions of acres of yellow flowers on the plateau, producing a magnificent view just like paradise.
