BEIJING, Nov. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Middle East peace talks seem to be running into more and more trouble. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has announced that his entire negotiating team has resigned, over a lack of progress in the talks, and continued i settlement building.
Speaking to ’s CBC television, Abbas also talked about continuing negotiations at the UN, and whether there’d been any developments in the Palestinians’ bid for statehood recognition.
"The delegation has resigned. Either we try to convince them to return, and we are trying or we form a new delegation. There is no basis for negotiations, so we will wait. If a basis can be established then we will welcome that, but if not, we have nine months and once this time is up, we are free to do as we please," he said.
