BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Russia says former US intelligence contractor Edward Snowden is free to communicate with German officials over alleged US spying on Chancellor Angela Merkel.
In a report published by the Kommersant daily, a Kremlin spokesman says Snowden is free to meet with anybody, as long as he obeys Russian law.
German opposition lawmaker, Christian Stroebele, met the former National Security Agency contractor in Moscow on Thursday. He says Snowden has offered to help Berlin with its investigation into the spying allegations. Stroebele says Snowden is prepared to testify, either in Germany or Russia.
However, Snowden’s lawyer says he’s unable to leave Russia, due to US-European extradition laws.
