BEIJING, Oct. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- Flotillas attached to the North, East and Fleets from the PLA Navy, have conducted simulated combat drills in the West Pacific.
A series of operations were executed during the exercise, including early warning reconnaissance and command and control capabilities. The drill aims to improve open-sea combat and command actions, and improve the navy’s ability to safeguard national security and maritime interests.
The drill, also called the Maneuver 5 exercise, is the first open-sea drill that includes vessels and aircraft from all three of China’s fleets. Participating troops set sail for the area on October 18.
