MLB: Red Sox leads world series 3-2
(Xinhua)   2013-10-30 11:15:59

BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals were tied at two-wins apiece, so whoever took Game five, would be on the verge of a World Series Crown.

The St. Louis faithful looking to cheer their club onto victory.

But it was the road team that gets on the board first, the red-hot David Ortiz is able to lash a pitch down the first base line, and that is able to bring in Dustin Pedroia. Big Papi, hitting an amazing 7-33 during the Fall Classic.

We head to the fourth when Matt Holliday takes John Lester for a ride to deep centre the 427-foot solo shot evens things at a run apiece. That was the first run Lester had allowed in more than 16 innings.

Same score in the seventh, and the Bosox threatening. David Ross hooks a drive just inside the left-field line and fair, the ball bounces into the seats for a go-ahead double, scoring a run, and Boston goes back in front.

Two batters later the Sox were at it again, this time it is Jacoby Ellsbury hitting one up the middle that plates one run, but the Cards throw out Ross at home. Regardless, Boston takes a 3-1 lead.

And that would be enough on this night as Koji Uehara gets Matt Holliday to fly out for the final out. The Boston Red Sox take game five by a 3-1 count, and can wrap up the World Series in Game 6 on Wednesday.
