BEIJING, Sept. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- UN Secretary General has called the gas attack on August 21 a "war crime." In a media briefing after a closed-door meeting with the Security Council, Ban called for leadership and determined efforts to end the suffering of the n people.
Ban vowed to spare no efforts in bringing all parties to the negotiation table and end the fighting in Syria. He declined to say who is to blame in the attack and how to hold them accountable.
Ban is set to meet US Secretary of State John Kerry and n Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov later this month and hopefully schedule a date for the second round of Geneva talks. UN inspectors will head back to Syria to continue chemical weapons investigations as soon as possible.
