BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Egypt’s state news agency, MENA, reports Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi has welcomed the US-Russia deal on Syria.

He says it’s a step towards finding a political solution and will create better conditions for the planned international peace conference in Geneva, likely next month. Arabi urges all parties to help secure a comprehensive ceasefire and allow the Syrian people access to humanitarian and medical aid.

Earlier this month, the Arab League urged the international community to take necessary measures against the Syrian government over the alleged chemical attack near Damascus on August the 21st.
