BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping has met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj and his Tajik counterpart, Emomali Rakhmon in Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek.

Strengthening ties across Asia.

On Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his counterparts from Iran, Mongolia and Tajikistan.

The meetings took place in Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek, the last leg of Xi’s four-nation Central Asia tour.

The Chinese president first met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The two leaders discussed the Iranian nuclear issue. Xi said China was willing to make constructive efforts to peacefully resolve the situation, including advancing talks between parties concerned.

Rouhani said that Iran was ready to accept supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency, in order to soothe international concerns.

President Xi then met with Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj. Talks centered on strengthening economic and trade cooperation in exploiting mineral resources, energy, building infrastructure and trade. Mongolia is seeking to sign big landmark projects, and wants measures to create a good environment for bilateral cooperation.

President Xi also held talks with his Tajik counterpart, Emomali Rakhmon. The two leaders had last met in May, establishing the China-Tajikistan strategic partnership.

Xi said both countries share the common goal of having to speed up their development, and the construction of the China-Central Asia natural gas pipeline is key to that common aim.

On his end, Rakhmon said he wished China would continue to support Tajikistan, and would consolidate coordination efforts in cracking down on cross border drug trade and terrorism.

Xi Jinping is to attend the latest summit of the Council of Heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States, slated for Friday in Bishkek.
