BAZARAK, Afghanistan, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Afghans from all walks of life on Tuesday visited the tomb of late resistance leader Ahmad Shah Masoud and paid homage to his services and sacrifices rendered for the freedom of their country from the clutch of the erstwhile Soviet Union and the Taliban.
The late Masoud who got international fame for offering stiff resistance against the former USSR in the 1980s and blocking Taliban onslaught in the 1990s to capture the whole Afghanistan was assassinated in suicide attack on Sept. 9, 2001 by two men disguised as journalists. Full story
