BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Australia’s conservative opposition has swept to power in the national election, ending six years of Labor Party rule. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd took responsibility for the loss, after conceding defeat to his political rival.
"I called Tony Abbott tonight. I know that Labor hearts are heavy across the nation tonight, and as your prime minister and as your parliamentary leader of the great Australian Labor Party, I accept responsibility the Labor Party as a viable fighting force for the future." Kevin Rudd said.
