BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Lebanon’s Hezbollah leader has accused radical Sunni Islamists of being behind a deadly car bomb that killed 24 people in a Shiite neighbourhood south of Beirut on Thursday.
In a televised speech, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said preliminary investigations showed a Takfiri group - a term for Sunni radicals - were most likely to be behind the bombing, as well as other recent attacks. He called on state security institutions to take proactive measures to round up terrorist cells.
Nasrallah said that he was prepared to double the number of his fighters in Syria if Thursday’s bombing turned out to be retaliation against Hezbollah’s intervention in Syria.
