BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Syrian activists are blaming the army for the latest violence in the capital Damascus and elsewhere.

Amateur video purported to show more explosions in the heavily targeted Qaboun neighbourhood. And across the highway in Arbeen, government tanks were spotted on the Damascus southern bypass.

On the other side of the capital, in Daraya, more tanks could be seen moving through the debris littered streets. Much further north in Syria’s largest city, Aleppo, activists posted a video of a building targeted by the rebel Free Syrian Army. They say the building was a scientific research facility and call the assault a "heroic operation".
