BEIJING, July 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has made new achievements in promoting economic development of its member states. Foreign ministers from the organization’s six member states are meeting in Kyrgyzstan.
Wang Yi said the SCO has intensified efforts to crack down on terrorism, separatism and religious extremism, drug trafficking, and transnational organized crime over the past year. He said it launched major programs to boost trade, transport, telecommunications and finance. Wang said all these efforts helped maintain regional security and improve livelihoods in the region.
Wang Yi called for continued cooperation to forge a community with common interests in politics, security, the economy and society. The organization has six members: China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
