BEIJING, April 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Russian President Vladimir Putin have held a joint news conference in Moscow. The two leaders have expressed their wish to enhance mutual trust and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Abe and Putin have pledged to speed up talks on the peace treaty issue and say efforts will be stepped up to resolve their territorial dispute. They’ve agreed to establish regular high-level exchanges and have emphasized the improvement of high-level communications, such as the "two- plus-two" talks between the countries’ foreign and defense ministers.
In a joint statement, Russia and Japan have condemned the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for its refusal to give up its nuclear weapons program. The two sides added they welcomed "further efforts" to create conditions for resuming the six-party talks.
