BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Italian President Giorgio Napolitano begins meetings on Tuesday with a panel of experts he appointed to help find a way out of the country’s political deadlock.
The president is facing the greatest test of his career during his final weeks in office. He's trying to end the standoff preventing a new government being formed more than a month after elections. Details will be announced later. They are expected to include cutting the cost of the bloated political system and replacing the widely criticized electoral law to avoid a repeat of the deadlock.
The center-left’s attempt to form government last week failed. The center-right is calling for either a coalition government or a new election in June.
