BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Russia says the Arab League’s decision to grant a seat to the Syrian opposition has cast doubt over the mandate of the League’s Syrian envoy, Lakhdar Brahimi.
Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, says he doesn’t see how Brahimi can continue to be considered a joint representative of the United Nations and Arab League.
On Tuesday, Syrian opposition leader, Moaz Al-Khatib, took Syria’s vacant seat at the Arab League summit in the Qatari capital, Doha.
