BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhuanet) --The leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, , has met with Former NBA star, Dennis Rodman in Pyongyang.

The two sat side by side before a crowd of thousands at a gymnasium on Thursday, chatting as they watched a game between players from the and the US.

The unlikely encounter makes Rodman the most high-profile American to meet Kim Jong Un since the young leader took power in December 2011, and takes place against a backdrop of tension between Washington and Pyongyang.
