BEIJING, Feb. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- French authorities have announced that the meat-processing company Spanghero accused of selling horsemeat as beef could re-open part of its production.
Workers of the company met with French agriculture and consumer affairs ministers in Paris after the announcement that its minced meet and ready-meals production could resume. But, the company will not be able to carry on with its trading of frozen meats before the end of the ongoing investigations.
300 workers had been forced out of work as French authorities suspended the factory’s operating license last week. It was suspected it had replaced beef with horse imported from Romania.
