BEIJING, Feb. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Gunmen have attacked a worker's camp in northern Nigeria, killing a guard and kidnapping eight foreign workers.
The attack happened in Jama’re, a town in the rural Bauchi state. The camp belongs to a Lebanese construction company called, Setraco, which is in the area building a road. Authorities say the kidnapped include one from Britain, one from , one from Italy and five from Lebanon.
The Foreign Office of both Britain and Greece say they are looking into the abductions. It is the biggest kidnapping so far in a region under attack by Islamic extremists.
No group has claimed responsibility, but Nigeria’s predominantly Muslim north has been under attack over the last year and a half by the radical Islamic sect known as Boko Haram.
