BEIJING, Feb. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- A huge snowstorm with hurricane-force winds and blizzard conditions has hit the north-eastern United States, leaving more than 700,000 homes without power. At least five people have died. Streets are mostly deserted and inaccessible.
In Connecticut, where all roads have been closed, the snow has made travel nearly impossible. Flooding is a concern along the coast, and some homes have been evacuated in Massachusetts. Airlines have cancelled more than 5-thousand flights. The three major airports serving New York City are allowing some flights to land and Boston’s Logan Airport was closed. Across the region, flights are expected to be back on normal schedules by Sunday.
