BEIJING, Dec. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will chair a conference in late January, hoping to agree 1.5 billion US dollars of humanitarian aid for Syria, during the first half of 2013.

Ban is calling on donor countries to do more to alleviate the suffering of more than 5 million Syrians inside and outside the country. According to a spokesman, the conference will be hosted by the government of Kuwait, in Kuwait City on January 30th.
