MOSCOW, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday held his eighth press conference on major domestic issues and foreign relations in 12 years and the first of its kind since his return to the Kremlin this May.

Putin, in front of some 1,200 Russian and foreign journalists, started off by reviewing the results achieved in economic and social spheres in the country.

During his direct conversation with reporters, which lasted four and a half hours, the president outlined his ideas on domestic and international issues. Full story

MOSCOW, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Moscow does not need any anti-American rhetoric but will not allow another country to bother Russia with impunity, President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

Russia ready for constructive dialogue with Japan: Putin

MOSCOW, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Moscow had received a signal from Japan on concluding a peace treaty and looked forward to constructive dialogue with Tokyo, President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

"We have minded the signal from Tokyo, from the party, which had returned to the power, that the party leaders are for a peace treaty," Putin told reporters at his annual press conference, adding "this is a very important signal, and we appreciate it." Full story
