BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- has finished its final test run for the launch of the Naro-1 space rocket. The planned blastoff from a space center on the country’s southern coast will take place on Thursday.
The Korea Aerospace Research Institute said the final test launch was conducted in two separate stages. A launch simulation of the first stage rocket of Naro-1 took around 7 hours. And the launch simulation of the second-stage rocket took about 4 hours. The space launch vehicle will deploy a small satellite that will mainly collect data on space radiation.
The scheduled October 26th launch was delayed due to a last-minute technical glitch detected in the rocket’s first stage. Thursday’s launch will be South Korea’s third attempt to send the Naro-1 into space from its own soil.
The first two attempts in 2009 and 2010 ended in failures. The exact time of the launch will be decided only after a final weather check at around noon Thursday.
