BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Turkey's state-run agency says that a NATO team surveying sites for the possible deployment of Patriot missiles has inspected military installations in south-eastern Turkey.
Turkey asked allies to deploy the missiles as a defence against any aerial attack from . The Anadolu Agency said the NATO delegation visited military facilities in Malatya province, some 200 kilometres from the Syrian border.
The province is already home to an early warning radar that is part of NATO’s missile defence system capable of countering ballistic missile threats from .
NATO is expected in the next few days to approve Turkey’s request to send the missiles, which the US, and the Netherlands have available.
