5 alleged terrorist face U.S. courts

 BEIJING, Oct. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Radical Islamist cleric, Abu Hamza, has appeared in federal court in New York. It comes a day after the UK extradited him and 4 other men to the United States, where they will face trial on terrorism charges. Under the terms of the extradition, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty.

The Egyptian-born Abu Hamza, is accused of supporting al-Qaeda, aiding a kidnapping in Yemen and plotting to open a training camp for militants in the United States. At a brief hearing, Abu Hamza was informed of the charges he faces, but will not be asked to enter a plea until he returns to court on Tuesday. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Saudi native Khalid al-Fawwaz and Egyptian Adel Abdul Bary also appeared in court. Both pleaded not guilty to charges that they were involved in the 1998 bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. The other two accused...British citizens Babar Ahmad and Syed Tal'ha Ah'san, pleaded not guilty before a federal judge in New Haven, Connecticut.
