BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Mexican president Felipe Calderon has delivered his final state-of-the-nation speech.

Calderon acknowledged that mistakes have been made in his government’s fight against drug trafficking and organised crime, but he said the effort helped to prevent criminals from taking control of the country. He still defended his security strategy that has largely relied on unprecedented deployment of troops across the country.

Felipe Calderon, Mexican President, said, "We made a momentous decision for Mexico, to decisively face criminals, and with this decision Mexico began its long path to a life of liberty and security. with the action of the federal forces and the brave support of our communities, we have prevented criminals from taking control of Mexico."
