BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- An i military spokeswoman says the army has deployed an Iron Dome air-defence system to Eilat, which is designed to intercept and destroy rockets. The move comes after two rockets were fired at the town of Eilat near the border with .
The spokeswoman also said the Iron Dome system is in a process of testing, part of which involves positioning a battery from time to time in various locations around the country. It is the second Iron Dome deployment in Eilat. Israeli police said two blasts rocked the city Wednesday. Debris from the rockets was later found and Israel said they came from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
Relations between Israel and Egypt had cooled down after stepped down as president. Meanwhile, Egypt’s state news agency says President Mohamed will visit to attend the Non-Aligned Movement Summit at the end of August. The news has caused concern from Israel that Egypt is aligning itself more closely with Iran.
